Hitting a Homerun with Your Digital Asset Manager (DAM)

As a lifelong Dodger fan, this year’s Yankees-Dodgers World Series is the highlight of my year! I’m sure many of you grew up playing baseball or are lifelong fans, so you know that there are fundamentals necessary to be successful in the game, just like there is when we consider how to “win” in PR and Marketing. That holds very true in how we maintain and manage our Digital Asset Managers, or DAMs as you commonly know them. I thought these four tips might help you manage your DAM more effectively...and please excuse my baseball metaphors!

  1. Successful management of your DAM means establishing a game plan of operational Governance that sustains value to your corporate team and provides an ongoing game plan to ensure goals are met and you earn runs on the scoreboard.

  2. Your Metadata must not only be well maintained in regards to taxonomy and specifications, but must be able to handle the curve balls that are thrown at you that require a change to your metadata tactics.

  3. Winning teams are good communicators! Success with your DAM requires effective communication, transparency, and accountability at all levels of your team.

  4. AI - Artificial Intelligence - can help you hit a grand slam by providing valuable intel on where your game plan is working, and where you might need to make some pitching changes in your DAM.

Every team is different, so a DAM isn’t a “one size fits all” solution. A winning DAM game strategy requires considerable preparation, teamwork, and considerable collaboration on how users and your audiences engage with your DAM platform. If you need some help talking through that, iPR Software can help. Please remember, a successful DAM is an ongoing process, and in light of the upcoming World Series, remember what the great Yankees catcher Yogi Berra said, “It ain't over 'til it's over!”
